about us

  • APS Trees is a trusted tree care service provider, built on a deep passion for trees and the landscapes they thrive in. Led by Albert Selway, a seasoned arborist with over 14 years of industry experience, APS Trees is committed to delivering expert tree care with a strong emphasis on safety, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.

APS Trees was founded out of a love for arboriculture and a dedication to preserving and enhancing natural environments. Albert’s journey began in the UK, where he worked alongside skilled arborists and foresters, gaining hands-on experience in tree management, health assessment, and pruning techniques. Through collaborations with some of the best in the field, he deepened his knowledge of tree species, risk management, and advanced tree care methods.

After relocating to Melbourne over seven years ago, Albert brought his extensive skills to Australian landscapes, becoming a specialist in large tree removals. Adapting his expertise to local tree species, climate conditions, and environmental regulations, he has since built a reputation for excellence—offering professional tree services tailored to both residential and commercial clients.

    • Mulching & Soil Health – Branches and debris are chipped into mulch to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and enrich soil. Our tracked compact woodchipper ensures mulch is placed exactly where you need it. we also understand that mulch cant always be left on site and we can manage that also.

    • Firewood & Timber Reuse – Larger trunks can be cut for firewood or milled into timber for furniture, building materials, or creative projects, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

    • Habitat Stumps & Hollows – Where possible, we leave safe tree trunks and are able to create hollows as natural habitats for birds, insects, and wildlife, supporting biodiversity.

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, ensuring that even removed trees continue to benefit the environment

  • Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

Tree removal regulations vary by location. Some councils require permits, especially for protected or significant trees. We can help you check the requirements in your area.

How do I know if a tree needs to be removed?

Signs that a tree may need removal include disease, decay, structural instability, dead branches, or if it poses a safety risk to people or property. Our arborists can assess the tree and advise on the best course of action.

What happens to the tree after it’s removed?

We aim to be as sustainable as possible. Depending on your preference, we can mulch the branches for garden use, cut the wood for firewood, mill the timber with our Alaskan mill, or leave habitat stumps for wildlife.

Do you provide emergency tree removal services?

Yes, we offer emergency storm clean-up and tree removal services to clear fallen or hazardous trees and ensure your property remains safe.

Can you remove trees in tight or hard-to-access areas?

Absolutely! Our team is experienced in handling complex removals, including trees in confined spaces or near structures, using specialised equipment and techniques.

Will my garden be left messy after tree work?

No, we take pride in leaving your property clean and tidy, ensuring there is no collateral damage.

Can you prune or trim trees instead of removing them?

Yes! If a tree is healthy but overgrown, we can prune it to improve its shape, health, and safety while ensuring it doesn’t interfere with structures or power lines. We can also prune unhealthy trees to remove dead or diseased branches, promote growth, and reduce wind resistance.

How much does tree removal or pruning cost?

Pricing depends on the tree’s size, location, accessibility, and complexity of the job. You can provide images for an initial estimate, but we will need to inspect the site to give you an accurate quotation.

Do you grind stumps after tree removal?

Yes, we offer stump grinding services to remove stumps and allow for replanting or landscaping.

    Are you insured and qualified?

Yes, our team consists of fully qualified and insured arborists who follow Australian standards to ensure safe and professional tree work.
